Stop Loss Calculator - Calculate Stop Loss Levels Based on Risk Tolerance

Last updated: Sep 16, 2026 | 300K traders search stop loss | Example: Entry 100, risk 2%, SL = 98

Formula

SL Price = Entry * (1 - SL%/100). Example: 100 * (1-2%) =98. Risk per share 2.

Stop-loss and position-risk methodology

Stop distance is the absolute difference between entry and stop price. Risk per unit equals that distance; estimated position risk equals risk per unit multiplied by quantity. If sizing from an account-risk limit, position size equals permitted monetary risk divided by stop distance, rounded down.

Stops can gap or execute with slippage, so actual loss may exceed the estimate. A stop should reflect market structure or a tested method—not an arbitrary percentage chosen only to increase position size.
